Viewing Your Workout History
Your Apple Watch automatically tracks workouts when you start a session, and you can also manually log workouts through the Fitness app. Here's how to review them:
In the Fitness App
- Open the Fitness app on your iPhone
- Tap the "Workouts" tab at the bottom
- Scroll through your chronological workout list
- Tap any workout to see detailed metrics including duration, calories, heart rate zones, and route (if available)
- Use the filter button to view specific workout types or date ranges
On Apple Watch
- Open the Activity app on your Apple Watch
- Scroll down to see recent workouts
- Tap a workout to view summary statistics
For a more comprehensive view with monthly and yearly summaries, Fitness Wrapped organizes your workouts into beautiful visual recaps that highlight your progress and achievements.
Understanding Your Streaks
Apple Watch tracks three types of streaks that help you maintain consistency:
Move Streak
The number of consecutive days you've closed your Move ring (burned your daily calorie goal). This streak appears in the Fitness app's Summary tab and resets if you miss a day.
Exercise Streak
Consecutive days where you've completed at least 30 minutes of exercise. This encourages daily activity and helps build healthy habits.
Stand Streak
Days in a row where you've stood and moved for at least one minute during 12 different hours. This promotes regular movement throughout the day.
While Apple Fitness shows your current streaks, Fitness Wrapped provides historical streak data and helps you visualize your consistency over months and years.
Tracking Time and Calories
Understanding your total workout time and calories burned helps you gauge your overall activity level:
Total Workout Time
In the Fitness app Summary tab, you can see your total exercise minutes for the current week, month, or year. This includes all logged workouts and active minutes from daily activities.
Active Calories
Active calories are calories burned through movement and exercise, separate from your resting metabolic rate. The Fitness app shows daily, weekly, and yearly totals.
Per-Workout Breakdown
Tap any individual workout in the Workouts tab to see detailed metrics including duration, average heart rate, total calories, and distance (for applicable workouts).
For more detailed analytics and visual representations of your time and calorie trends, Fitness Wrapped provides comprehensive charts and monthly summaries.
Analyzing Workout Trends
Identifying patterns in your workout data helps you understand your fitness habits and make informed decisions about your routine:
Workout Frequency
Review how often you work out by looking at your weekly workout count in the Fitness app. Notice patterns like which days you're most active or if your frequency changes seasonally.
Favorite Workout Types
The Fitness app shows your most common workout types. Understanding your preferences helps you maintain variety or focus on specific activities.
Intensity Trends
Track how your workout intensity changes over time by reviewing calories burned and heart rate data across different time periods.
Monthly Comparisons
Compare your activity month-over-month to see if you're maintaining or improving your fitness levels. Fitness Wrapped makes this easy with visual monthly wraps.
While Apple Fitness provides basic trend information, Fitness Wrapped offers enhanced analytics with visual charts, month-by-month comparisons, and detailed insights into your workout patterns.
